Pigeon Valley links the Göreme and Uçhisar area
The valley is a popular walking corridor between the two towns, with rock formations and old dovecotes along the route. Routes and trail conditions can change, so use a current map rather than relying on an old turn-by-turn guide.
Decide where you want to finish
Because the walk can be done in either direction, plan what happens at the far end before you start. You may want to continue into town, use local transport or return by taxi.
Allow for trail conditions
Rain, snow, heat and erosion can change the walking surface. Wear suitable footwear and avoid assuming that a time estimate from another traveller will match your pace or the current trail.
Do not make the trail your airport connection
On departure day, return to your hotel or confirmed pickup point with enough time to collect luggage and meet the airport transfer.
For hotel transfers, see Göreme or Uçhisar Airport Transfer.
