Ürgüp is a different experience from Göreme. Where Göreme is a fairy chimney village, Ürgüp is a proper town with wine cellars, Ottoman stone mansions, and the most expensive cave hotel estates in the region. Kayakapı Premium Caves — a converted 350-year-old Ottoman settlement — is here, along with Sacred House and Yunak Evleri.
Ürgüp's streets are wider than Göreme's and generally accessible by standard vehicles. The cave estates sit on the hillside above town; most have proper vehicle access roads. Kayakapı is the exception — it has a specific access route our drivers know. Ürgüp is 8 km from Göreme and well-positioned for day trips to Ihlara Valley and Derinkuyu.
